About
Carrie McCahan has lived most of her life in the heart of Phoenix. In 1998, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University (ASU) and in 2011, she acquired her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from A.T. Still University (ATSU). Carrie started her career working in emergency medicine and primary care but her genuine interest in psychological function and human well-being led her transition to mental health. In the fall of 2021, Carrie became part of the Uptown Psychiatry team where she treats a wide variety of mental health disorders such as anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, with an emphasis on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Her experience with these patients ignited a fuse to drive women's mental and emotional wellness and focus on the issues many women face daily. A reconnection with a former colleague in Michael Hervey, MD led to the founding of the Mental Health Services department of Premier OBGYN as a part of the Premier Wellness Initiative in 2025 based on mutual understanding, trust and the goal of collaborating to create compassionate team-based healthcare.
Carrie takes a holistic approach to mental health care and encourages her patients to actively participate in their psychiatric treatment, a mantra that the practice has adopted and serves as an essential pillar of the practice. Her goal in practice is to ensure her patients feel heard, supported, and empowered to reach their treatment goals. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, live music, reading, traveling to new cities and beaches, and is a competitive ballroom dancer.
